PRISM-19

    Vegetation

Project Overview

The objective of the vegetation monitoring is to characterise the paddocks monitored for soil moisture in the individual 3km × 3km focus areas, so as to describe all dominant vegetation types at various stages of maturity and vegetation water content. Vegetation sampling activities will be conducted on the Downscaling Flight (DS) days when the ground soil moisture truth is not needed for validation purposes.

The objective of the intensive vegetation sampling during the PRISM campaign is to collect detailed plant structural parameters for selected vegetation types (agricultural and grazing) and to track the evolution of such parameters across the entire campaign period, for the purpose of soil moisture retrieval algorithm development.
